Fourth day of the seminar. It presents the somatic breaking act: its structure, its validation filters, endogenous irreversibility and the design of the therapeutic act.
Benefits
Understand how an interrupted defensive cycle is completed
Build a breaking act with its components and validation filters
Design interventions aimed at making the change last
Move from a concrete prediction to the action that contradicts it
Calibrate the act to the conditions of the person carrying it out
Session
How an interrupted defensive cycle is completed
The breath that was cut off is completed again; the muscles that contracted away from contact contract towards it. The breaking act carries out the response phase that the defensive cycle never finished, and the session develops why this route produces a prediction error the system cannot dismiss.
Mechanism: carrying out the response or discharge phase that was left interrupted
Why a somatic prediction error arrives without the layers of translation of the cognitive
The four conditions for the system to register the act as a contradiction
Role of the regulated witness: relational as well as proprioceptive verification
What distinguishes an act from a cathartic discharge
Session
Components and validation filters
An act can be carried out in full and register nothing if one of its components is missing or if it contradicts something that was not the active prediction. The session develops what an act has to bring together for the system to take it as a contradiction, and which filters it must pass before it is proposed to anyone.
The four components: physical action, symbolic charge, sequence and irreversibility
The three validation filters before proposing the act
The rule for formulating the sentence that accompanies the execution
What does not amount to a contradiction even if it seems to: the experience that consoles without contradicting
Contraindications and safety criteria
Session
Where it is inscribed and how it is designed
A change that depends on the person continuing to make an effort is not irreversible: it is a sustained effort. The session develops what makes a modification hold on its own, and why that property has to lie in the mechanics of the act rather than be entrusted to the person carrying it out.
Why the evidence produced by one’s own action is not dismissed as coincidence
Irreversibility built into the object and the action: what cannot be undone once done
The somatic level as the place where the modification is inscribed
Change that holds without effort versus change that has to be sustained
Active inference: the difference between acting and observing as sources of evidence
Session
From the concrete prediction to the action that contradicts it
The act is not derived from the name of the pattern but from the prediction that person holds, so two patients with the same identified imprint may need different acts. The session goes through the design in reverse —from the prediction to the action that contradicts it— and closes with the execution of several acts.
Obtaining the specific prediction on which the act is built
The five sources the design integrates: pattern, prediction, biography, sentence and the person’s resources
Why two people with the same imprint may need different acts
Calibrating the act to the physical conditions and tolerance of the person carrying it out
Execution of several acts, with participants rotating roles
